Amir's Photos -- Cross-Country USA Part 2

July 2003
It's about time...to return finally to California! After two long years in Baltimore (those who monitored this page during those years can attest to my misery), it's time to make the return leg of the trip. However, I will admit that Baltimore did grow on me a little more than I anticipated. Anyway, it's now time for Ricky to begin her career in the entertainment industry and Amir to begin his career in medicine. More importantly, time for yet another roadtrip. Follow us along as we sail through the states with two cars, a U-Haul trailer, and plenty of water. For a more detailed travelogue, read the Cross-Country USA 2 Journal Page.

Among our final days in Baltimore. We packed up everything we could into a rented U-Haul trailer and set off towards the new land. Goodbye Hopkins, goodbye 3506, and goodbye Hampden shitheads.

About to cross the Mississippi River. I looked and looked for Huck Finn but unfortunately could not see him.

All of us, pictured in Austin Texas, about to set off on an inner-tubing adventure on the Guadalupe River.

Sadie looks pretty calm here, right? That's because the water is completely still. Once there was any hint of current, this dog would freak out and try to jump ship into the water...and swim off to shore! I guess we should just be happy she knew how to swim; before this excursion, this dog had never been in water before.

Moving on again. In an unfortunate (and partly amusing) turn of events, Ricky's car needed repair in the middle of nowhere in Texas. Actually it was El Paso, and it turned out to be a very hospitable city for the two days we were stuck there. Here we are on our last morning there, with a Krispy Kreme car. Very Texas-esque, right?

Our view from the front seat for all 7 days. Not much more to say about this.

It's hard to tell from this photo that it's morning. And over 100 degrees! Just another morning in Tempe, Arizona.

It's amazing what hot weather will do to your head. Those are Reese's Pieces, in case you were wondering..

Somewhere around Palm Springs, I think. The backdrop to this picture is pretty amazing and almost looks fake. And did you knowk that Belzoni, Mississippi is the catfish capital of the world?

Kenny and Richard in the same spot as above. They're friends. They also lucked out by getting to drive a car with an incredible air conditioner.

So close! Just a few more hours until we reach our destination.

And we're there! 7 days and 2500 miles later, we arrive at our new home in Los Angeles, where there's sunshine every day. It's almost sickening.

That concludes CC-USA Part 2. Thanks for showing interest.
