trAde is the culmination of more than a
quarter of a century’s fine tuning of taste buds. God has granted us with
the five senses – and taste is a wonderful way to express and feel so many
different emotions. Food warms the heart. Food soothes the mind and body. Food can heat you up and cool you down all in a single bite. Flavors
mingled together can still be distinct – a combination of expressions. Food is a part of all cultures. Food brings family and friends together.
This page is dedicated to my mom and dad for sharing
their love of food and cooking with me and cultivating my taste buds at an
early age.

not listed. Other dishes may be specials, so if they don’t offer it
anymore, get something else and tell me what to try if I go again. ^_^

What's New
September 4, 2009:
Good Bye trAde. After experiencing
some issues with this web server and the desire to stay fresh, the content
from this site will be migrated to my new restaurant blog
Sesame Tea Eats.
Aperitif
The section containing random rants. An
aperitif is defined as a drink taken as an appetizer before a meal, so what
better place to put this section than before the critiques.
I often get asked about new restaurants when people see
me. With my increasingly busy schedule, I have less time to update
the website, but there are always new places that I visit. After a
little bit of house cleaning, I am realizing that I am still behind on a
number of reviews, with over a hundred menus strewn around my desk in
various piles - some from vacations and others from regular visits.
The abundance of restaurants shows that despite the economical downturn,
people still desire good food and variety. In recent weeks, the
restaurants that I have frequented have been more than half full -
revealing that there is always a market for good eats.

Food: Top quality food is the core of any dining
experience. While good company and your mood can enhance a meal, the food is the
center of the meal. Good food is always remembered. Bad food can hardly be
forgotten. The difficulty in patronizing a restaurant multiple times is the
consistency of the overall dining experience from food to service. You may find
that some restaurants receive an average food score, but I have tried to denote
dishes that I felt to be outstanding – both good and bad.
Atmosphere: In my reviews, atmosphere does not necessarily
translate to ambiance. In some cases, it does, but the most important thing
about atmosphere is that it matches what a restaurant is going for. If a fast
food restaurant is overly pretentious, it just doesn’t match. For some
restaurants, you just need to disregard the atmosphere and stay focused on the
food. Keep this in mind when reading the reviews.
Service: It’s important that service be attentive, without
being overbearing. I remember one restaurant where the waiters hovered over our
table. With each sip of our drinks, they were automatically there to refill. You
could literally feel their presence behind you all evening. Top quality service
can make a dining experience that much better or that much worse.
Price: Pretty self-explanatory. Value can be factored
in, but sometimes, you just pay for what you get including the food, service,
and atmosphere. It’s the best when you get great food for a great price though.
Restaurant Listings
After posting this site, a lot of friends started
giving me lists of places to go, so rather than keep it all to myself, I thought
I would share. These are restaurants that have not been visited or reviewed to
date. Also included are restaurants that are on my own list to try out. As I
try ones listed, you will see their respective reviews. Happy eating.
