"a mild-mannered reporter for a metropolitan..."I'm a lead developer at Sendmail, Inc. in Emeryville, California. All day long (and most nights), I design and write web applications to go with our mail servers. It's kinda like the "post office" of the Internet. If you peek inside America Online, Compuserve, Earthlink, AT&T, Yahoo, Schwab, and about 80% of all servers out there, you'll find Sendmail scooting your mail around the Highway.
"nice tunes...you play keys?"I write music, draw, and do graphic art and design. This is the extent of my creative abilities. I've given several concert performances, mostly school related, and have done some freelance graphic design for various college dances and such. Some samples are somewhere around this home page, you should be able to find them.
"a brown bear and a stumpy red tree..."I went to Cal. Er, U.C. Berkeley. Er, "I majored in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley with an emphasis in graphics and algorithms." Not much to tell about college, really. Had a few crushes on a girl here and there, too bad none of them ever panned out. I joined the Chinese Student Association, a small asian club on campus. I ran a few college dances, which was pretty exciting and did the clubbing thing a bit, too.
I did work on several graphics research projects, including one which later became part of the basis for the "bullet-time" visual effects in The Matrix. Ask me how cool that was. Pretty fucking cool. If I wasn't working at Sendmail, I would probably would've been working at Manex Visual Effects.
"so I hear you had a girlfriend..."Yep. Pretty fucking psycho, too. Met her in college, November of 1997. Things were good at the beginning, but I gave too much, emotionally. She took too much. And so, she eventually sucked the life out of me. The way it ended was pretty ironic. It wasn't something she did to me, but it to her mom.
We were out teaching her mom to drive. I was sitting in the back for once, (she had yelled at me earlier for the way I was teaching her mom, said I was blocking her mom's view, and a lot of other fucked up stuff.) Anyway, I thought, as I was riding along in the back, "she'll treat my Dad the same way some day." I finally saw it, and ended it then. It was a long time coming, but that was the breaking point for me.
"the girl next door..."Before the psycho one, I sort of had one in back in high school. This girl was really cool, she and I used to hang with this asian club down in the South Bay, clubbing, drinking and all that. We were really more close friends than boyfriend / girlfriend. I lost touch with her midway through college - last time I talked to her, she was majoring in Art at Cal.
"man, you never fucking update your web page..."So here I am updating it! A new design is in the pipeline. This is some minimal design I put together, I hate having too much graphics going on; it's too hard to keep track of, and slow to download. But I hope you'll enjoy what little stuff is here.
Send me mail, that's the best way to reach me. It's not like I have a life or anything.
