Famous Authors

Here is a very short list of the most prolific and popular authors around, along with the titles they've produced. If you're stocking your library, you should try to have something by each of these people. This list includes only authors I have read, and there are certainly more out there that would qualify for this list.

Kosuko Fujishima Fujishima's light, romantic, but complex style fits her storylines, which are more romantic than comedy.

Hayao Miyazaki Miyazaki has produced some wonderful animation, mostly aimed at children, but often well worth watching by adults too.

Osamu Tezuka Widely recognized as the Father of Anime, Tezuka started in the 50's and invented the genre. His style is not as extreme as more recent authors; characters don't have the huge eyes and hair. He is still producing manga, most recently the 'Adolf' series.
