Kenny's Pictures, Batch No. 12
In 2002, I started a new job in Monterey County. I was excited about
exploring the natural beauty of Monterey, and this batch illustrates the
travels and experiences I had upon first arriving in the Central Coast.
These pictures are from the first half of 2002, and includes pictures of
the Big Sur coast, various pictures of inland Monterey County, as well as
pictures from trips to Berkeley (for graduations) and UCLA (again, for
graduations). There is also a train section as I was trying to take the
train more often to go down to LA.
South Monterey County, San Luis Obispo, February 2002
Here are the pictures from my first drive back to LA. Of course, I alloted
time for exploration, and visited the Soledad Mission, San Antonio Mission
near Jolon, and shortly after that drive, San Luis Obispo for training.
San Antonio Mission is hard to reach, but worth the drive.
Big Sur Trips for Work, Feb/Apr 2002
A big part of my job in Monterey was trying to get call boxes installed on
the Big Sur Coast. This of course necessitated frequent visits to the area
to meet with the residents and to scope out good locations for call boxes.
Of course, I would always take a camera on these trips!
Monterey and Pacific Grove, February 2002
I lived in Pacific Grove and had a fun time exploring the area. It only
took one afternoon, but I did it. I also went whale watching in Monterey,
and that was fairly unpleasant seeing as how I got sea sick on that bumpy,
or as they say in sailing, lumpy, sea.
Point Lobos State Reserve, March 2002
One of the prettiest stretches of land in the Monterey Coast, Pt. Lobos is
just a short drive away from Monterey and parking is easy for us who don't
want to pay the automobile charge to get in. But for some reason, my
pictures here don't turn out as nicely as I hope. I think it's the
lighting, or the seaspray...
Spring Break 2002
A bunch of EAP friends came up from LA, and one came down from SF, during
their Spring Breaks in 2002. So I took them around and tried to show them
a good time, going to all of the major scenic spots in the area. It was a
great time, and they loved my little place in "America's Last Hometown".
Berkeley, May 2002
Of course, being so close to Berkeley meant that I had to go up and visit
every once in a while, so here are four pictures from one such trip.
The Train, May 2002
Again, I tried taking trains for the first time in a long time to get from
Salinas to LA, and here are some pictures resulting. Actually, this ride
was from San Luis Obispo to LA, since I was in SLO for a meeting anyhow. I
think this one was the ride where I was delivering a Mother's Day gift,
and rode the Metro Blue Line down to the LBC to get picked up.
Camp Blue, June 2002
Jen convinced me to go to Camp Blue for Young Alumni Weekend, and it was
actually kind of fun. There were a lot of activities, and it was a good
time. I was also there with Jen's friends, Christina and her boyfriend.
Graduations, June 2002
June is graduation season, and here are the pictures from UCLA.
