An extensive compilation of pointers for subjects ranging
from the daily use of the internet to more theoretical discussions
about the broader implications of CMC. It is formatted as a
sectioned list that can be viewed at several levels of detail,
with each list hyperlinked to allow easy navigation. Also
included are forms that allow users to contribute new information
to the database.
A bibliography of primarily academic user-interface papers,
including many on user-interfaces for groupware applications.
Holdings include the complete ACM SIGCHI conference proceedings
for 1983-1990, the complete abstracted contents of the journal
Human-Computer Interaction, and the contents of several edited
handbooks (with release of detailed tables of contents and
abstracts pending publisher approval). Also included are over 100
entries on books and major reports on HCI.
A detailed catalog of Computer Supported Cooperative Work and
groupware projects, including an extensive list of resources used
in compiling the information. The page also contains numerous
links to more specific sites, as well as a useful introduction to
CSCW and groupware terms for the uninitiated.
Forms-based searchable database containing citations covering
distributed file systems, distributed applications, Computer Supported
Cooperative Work (CSCW), distributed multiuser editors and some other
related topics. Sometimes the abstract of the paper is included,
in other cases some annotations are included.

The links are broadly organized by the type of information they
point to: collections of information, organisations, forums,
electronic journals, and other projects and products.
A recently created journal whose goals are "to publish original
essays and research reports on such topics as interpersonal and
group processes in communication networks, issues of privacy,
economics and access raised by the developing information
infrastructure, instructional communication in distance learning,
computer-supported cooperative work, and organizational and social
policy issues occasioned by the new medium." Book reviews are
available from the top level.
A bi-monthly newsletter with many departments, including information
on upcoming events and conferences. Further information regarding
groupware is broken down into applied and research areas.
Contributions are actively sought, and the page itself is a
collaborative effort.
Concordium Software, a consultancy firm, maintains this
very specific information about workflow. It includes description
and ordering information for lots of workflow software as well as
a current listing of events and periodicals in the field. The
Workflow Application Classification Scheme provides guidlines for
developers of workflow software, and is available as a free
booklet.
GSS-L: Group Support Systems List
GSS-L is an email distribution list for group support systems
researchers. It covers issues such as research, products,
facilitation, and conferences. It is a forum for seeking
information about research tasks, instruments, statistical
techniques for analyzing group data, and so forth. Discussion of

The ACM, among many other things, runs several SIGs related to groupware: SIGCAPH
(Computers and the Physically Handicapped), SIGCAS (Computers
and Society), SIGCHI
(Computer-Human Interaction), and many others.
The EFF was founded to ensure that our civil liberties are
protected as new communications technologies emerge. Lately it
has been leading many efforts to defeat legislation in Congress
designed to restrict the net.
