Okay! So you probably figured out by now that I love melody-driven punk rock, a subgenre of punk rock known as powerpop (according to the Little Angel) melodopunk, melodocore, or pop-punk (although it's far from the "pop" songs of Vanessa Williams or Mariah Carey -- ack!!). But, anyway, the common time beat, simple chords in a major key, and a catchy melody that infects your brain are characteristics of your typical, formulaic melodocore song. Popular pop-punk songs you may have heard on the radio come from the Ramones, Bad Religion, or Green Day. But they're not all there is to pop punk!!! Other cool but lesser known bands would be Mr. T Experience or the Muffs (although the Muffs may be getting popular too, just by association).
