The illegal flyer

Frank Lee's illegally posted flyer.

In a clear violation of ASUC campaign rules, a flyer promoting Student Action/UNITE Senator Frank Lee appeared today on the bulletin board of the Computer Science Undergraduate Association outside of 343 Soda Hall. The flyer was posted despite a clearly visible notice stating 'NO CAMPAIGN POSTINGS'. In addition to violating ASUC campaign rules, the flyer also likely falls afoul of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science departmental posting guidelines.

Many members of the CSUA reacted with shock and outrage. Member Robert Dolphin spoke of the damage to the community, "The actions of any political figure should embody the integrity we come to expect of them. In today's political climate especially, Frank Lee's posting is an outrage and a violation of our community's trust."

"I'm a computer science student, my hands are my livelihood. My fingers will be bloody by the time I pry out the four heavy duty staples used to post that flyer! I hope that Student Action is severely punished for this," exclaimed a pale-skinned individual working on one of the computers that line the CSUA office.

Alumnus and former CSUA officer Paul Twohey had this say, "Student Action's flyers claim, 'Actions Speak Louder than Words,' in this case their actions are saying 'We are idiots who cannot follow simple posted instructions, nevermind run a student government.' With people like this in charge of the ASUC it comes as no surprise that it fails far more often than it succeeds."

Others responded with underwhelmed stoicism, "We've come to expect this kind of incompetence, and disregard for student groups from ASUC officials. Why should they behave any differently when it comes to flyering?"

Neither Senator Lee nor the parties listed on the flyer, UNITE, Student Action, and Berkeley Engineers and Cal Scientists, could be reached for comment.
