Monitor Calibration

The brightness on your monitor should be adjusted so that you can
just barely see the difference between both halves of the box above

Unfortunately, there are no standards whatsoever for monitor calibration on PCs. Because of that, many people who view my photos think they are too dark, when reality, all it takes is a brightness adjustment on their monitors to fix that.

The calibration mechanism described above is the fastest way to get your brightness level properly calibrated. It is courtesy of Scott Eaton. However, Vladim Makarov also has a monitor adjustment page that might be worthwhile.
