Walking Trips
Walking trips for me are for places where I can't take my mountain
bike for one reason or another. I'm a lazy bum and generally see
no reason I should walk anywhere when I can take two wheels and
make the effort so much more pleasant. On the other hand, when
I go hiking or backpacking, I don't feel like the camera is as
much of a burden as when I'm cycling. For some reason, I've come
to associate cycling with freedom-freedom
from automobiles, responsibilities, and heavy equipment. So ironically,
when I have to carry stuff on my body, I don't feel like it's
a burden to carry more.
The Rockies
| My family and I visited Waterton Lakes National park in September, 1995, 6 months after my dad had a stroke. Our visit to Glacier National Park and Yellowstone a year before was just as beautiful, though I don't have the scanned pictures to show it. Just click on the picture on the left to see our travelogue.

| This year, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was gorgeously beautiful, and I loved every minute of it.

Mt. Rainier
| Rainier was one of those one-day trips. I don't usually like to travel that way, but it was all I had, and we had a dog with us, so we could only hike away from the park proper. Ironically, it took until after I'd moved away from Washington State before I finally hiked Rainier.
