Sailing Trips


Sailing trips refer to trips in a sailboat. I first took up sailing in 1994, as a knee injury kept me from cycling, and I needed a way to maintain my California tan. I finally made the move to ocean-capable vessels in 1996, when I got my bare-boat charter and coastal cruising certifications. You don't actually need a certification to sail, but most places won't let you charter a boat unless you've got some sort of certification because their insurance generally won't cover damage if you're renting without being a certified skipper.

I don't usually do my own trip reporting on my sail trips, leaving it to my friend Larry Hosken to do so.
