This image was rendered with the raytracer Persistence of
Vision from the USGS's 1:250,000-Scale
Digital Elevation Model data. This particular image was rendered
on my 486DX2/66 Linux
box in about 4 hours from 139 MB of raw compressed data. Further
information on the rendering process (including pointers to larger
pictures) is available here. The image was colored by height by the
