MCI Worldcom--the Big Slammer

I have always been an AT&T customer.  But when I received my telephone bill about two years ago, I realized that I have been slammed by MCI Worldcom (ironically, MCI Worldcom is the company that provides the previous link on how to deal with slamming when they are like the biggest slamming offender).  I called their customer service department right away to complain.  But they insisted that they couldn't have switched me without my authorization.  They claimed that I must have signed some promotional offer or responded to one of their tele-marketing calls.  They couldn't offer any evidence that the transaction was authorized; yet they assured that it was a valid transaction and I must have just forgot that I've authorized it.

As the result of the unauthorized switch, I had to pay higher long distance bills (I was not enrolled into any of MCI Worldcom's discounted plan automatically) as well as the long distance carrier switching fee for the local carrier.  I switched back to AT&T right away and had to pay my local carrier the switching fee again.  I had contacted MCI Worldcom's customer service department numerous times to try to get them to refund me the money, but to no avail.

I have never used any of MCI Worldcom's service or product since.
