Was with his regiment except for two months when he was in a hospital at Nashville, later to Louisville Ky. and then to Quincy, Ill. The surgeon or seargent fearing for his life unless he was sent into northern air. He never fully recovered. He was a miner in lead mines in Beetown.

The trip was made by boat from Pa. down the Ohio river, up the Mississippi and took 6wks. They settled in Lancaster around 1850. She was employed in the household of Gov Dewey (sp?) who was a guest at her wedding. After her marriage she spent most of her married life in Beetown, except for one yr in Ishperning and one yr at Platteville. Pg 9-10: married in Lancaster and came to Beetown a bride in 1855. She joined the Cong Ch at 17 in Lancaster. They clelbated their Golden Wedding.
