Ai ni tsuite...(Regarding love...)

By Raymond Satoru Yakura

 			     Translation:
Jinsei ni In my life,
Ai ga nakereba without love,
Ha no you ni Like the leaves on the trees,
Dokodemo itsumo Whereever..whenever,
Karete narimasu... Will become withered...

This poem is known as 'tanka'. It is very similar to the better known 'haiku', but 'tanka' has a syllable pattern of 5,7,5,7,7. My inspiration in writing this came from my grandmother, uncle, and aunt who writes/judges tanka. The subject of the poem was directly inspired by the Japanese movie "Caribe, Sinfonia de Amor," which starred Seiko Matsuda and Masaki Kanda. And also, the love is more than just romantic love..it is the love as described in 1 Corinthians 13.. The love bestowed by God upon every person in this world...
